The White House is refusing to reveal exactly who Jack Abramoff met with in the White House during his more than 200 contacts in the first ten months of the Bush administration. This is despite promising to do so, less than two weeks ago.

  1. Liberal media and the dems – games before truth
Once again, the truth takes a back seat to playing political games – At the wheel, the partisan left and their liberal media cohorts.
Issue: The legal fallout from former lobbyist Jack Abramoff’s decision to cooperate with a federal corruption probe.
Most of the mainstream press is trying to spin this into a GOP scandal. Here’s a snipet from the AP take on the story:
Abramoff, a former $100,000-plus fundraiser for President Bush with ties to former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy, tax evasion and mail fraud.
“I plead guilty, your honor,” Abramoff said in flat, unemotional tones, accepting a plea bargain that said he had provided lavish trips, golf outings, meals and more to public officials “in exchange for a series of official acts.”
Now let me preface this by saying, that whoever is wrapped up in this thing, if they are guilty of wrongdoing, may they be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I don’t care what their party affiliation is. But here is what the elected officials of the left and the folks of the liberal media don’t want you to focus on:
One of the most prominent players in the Abramoff’s scandal is none other than the Senate’s top Democrat, Harry Reid (D-NV). Other democrat notables reportedly having ties to Abramoff are Byron Dorgan (D-ND), Carl Levin (D-MI), Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), former Senator John Breaux (D-LA), and Mary Landrieu (D-LA).
Reid apparently was issued checks from Indian Tribes represented by Abramoff. Reid’s tax-exempt political group, the Searchlight Leadership Fund., ultimately received more than $66,000 in Abramoff-related donations between 2001 and 2004.
Don’t take what the mainstream media is trying to feed you at face value. Don’t be fooled by any elected official claims such as, “I never met Abramoff, I wouldn’t know what he looked like in a lineup.” Or here’s a good one, “Abramoff never gave me any money,” to mean, that he didn’t personally hand over a check perhaps? Pathetically trivial, hair-splitting quips…… It’s amazing how some of these folks go about trying to distance themselves from scandal.
Makes a good case for term limits doesn’t it?

  2. Sickofspin says some Democrats are “prominent players” in the Abramoff scandal because some clients of Abramoff gave them some campaign contributions — but doesn’t say what they are supposed to have done in exchange!
And he quotes Scaife’s newsMax as a source of the allegation. Yes, THAT NewsMax…
