I don’t want to get all conspiratorial, but why wiould the entire Republican Party be against a voting system that lets voters say, “Yes, that is how I voted,” and otherwise making sure that votes are counted accurately?
Voting safeguards measure sponsored by Holt fails in House,
The bill, dubbed the Emergency Assistance for Secure Elections Act of 2008, fell short of the two-thirds majority it needed to pass, even after clearing a House committee unanimously. The vote was 239-178 in favor, with all but two Democrats supporting it and all but 16 Republicans opposed.
The bill would have allowed states and jurisdictions to be reimbursed by the federal government for converting to a paper ballot system, offering emergency paper ballots or conducting audits by hand counts.
The measure was designed to ensure that every vote is properly counted. Voters in all or parts of 20 states including New Jersey now cast ballots electronically without backup paper verification, according to the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J.
Obviously these voting machines are the only way the Republicans can get or stay elected.
It was in fact these glitching machines that elected an unprecedented amout of Republicans in 2002.
The reason given for this oddity as explained by the Republicans was due to the rude way in which
the Democrats had behaved at Paul Wellstone’s memorial referring to some person in the audience
who had boo’d vice president Cheney when he entered the building.
Being as Republicans are big on- guilt by association, this one act was enough to turn
the tide in those last hours as the people finally saw just how ill mannered democrats truly were and so they
voted for republicans instead.
This was the election also where there were no exit polls as explained because they were trying out the new machines.
In 2004 when the exit polls did not match up with the direction the voting machines took the vote
the reason given was that exit polls just don’t work with these machines.
They are valid everywhere else in the world except the United States AKA the Homeland.
The other reason given in case the first didn’t fly was that it was not in the nature of Republicans
(being the sneaky secretive and unfriendly type) to give up information on who they voted for
to perfect strangers doing exit polls.
Everyone must realize by now that Bush is really not interested whatsoever in any way of
making sure that the peoples votes are counted except of course in other countries .
