I Used To Be A Democrat, But…

Controversial article in the San Francisco Chronicle yesterday, Leaving the left / I can no longer abide the simpering voices of self-styled progressives — people who once championed solidarity.
But look at the links on the guy’s blog. Federalist Society, Claremont Institute, National Review, Pacific Legal Foundation, Powerline. Far, far right stuff. This guy is a hard-core “movement conservative.” I think the Chronicle got taken for a ride.

  1. I’m glad it’s not just me. I read that article and was puzzled by the way the author kept spouting the hard right line while going on and on about what a big liberal he is, or was. Doesn’t the Chron read what they publish anymore?
I mean, with lines like “Leading voices in America’s ‘peace’ movement are actually cheering against self-determination for a long-suffering Third World country because they hate George W. Bush more than they love freedom.” that sound like they’re right out of NRO or LGF, no way this guy’s a liberal. C’mon, good liberals break out in hives just reading that shit, let alone writing it.
And, yes, I do hate GW Bush, but I also hate it when the U.S. invades, bombs, occupies, tortures, loots, and otherwise behaves barbarically in a country for no solid or legal reason. I’m funny that way.

  2. Good on you, Ginger! Especially like the last paragraph of your comment.
And good on you for posting this, Dave!

  3. I used to be a hard right wing neo-fascist. But I just realized that property is theft. Now I am a Democrat.
    Uh, yeah.

  4. It’s just like the classic RTPTroll move: “I used to be a Democrat”, or “I’m really a moderate” followed by a barrage of Rove-generated talking points.
It’s an indicator of how far behind the curve the corporate media is that they can’t pick that shit up.
