This is a BIG deal. Huge.
They used the excuse of “anti-terror” legislation to detain and question the partner of a journalist for 9 hours, a Brazilian citizen, over the protests of Brazil, inside an airport as he was changing planes.
This means that ANY “anti-terror” legislation can be used against anyone whether they are actually engaged in terror or not. This is a very big deal. Because suddenly the excuse that the NSA spying is about “anti-terror” means it can be used against journalists and their friends and families, too. And you.
