Does Bush Support Right-Wing Attacks On Jews?

Last week I wrote about Republicans Dropping the Code-Word “Liberals” and Accusing Jews Directly. It continues today at

The sad fact is that the ACLU is made up in good part of Jews, and it is that organization and its lawyers who are leading the assault against Christmas.
… Unfortunately, as is so often the case with black Americans, those who are high- profile and get most of the media attention are the radicals and the rabble-rousers. When my critics accused me of promoting anti-Semitism, I pleaded not guilty. I asked them if they thought that gentiles were so stupid that, until I wrote my piece, they didn’t recognize that there is a secular jihad underway in this country to remove Christ from Christmas.

Do we get condemnation of this stuff from the “uniter not divider” Bush Administration? Does he show that he is President of the United States, not just of the Republican Party?

Condemnation? No, after last week’s attack on Jews Bush’s response is to send his Secretary of State to honor the Heritage Foundation:

Taking questions after a speech on Iraq to the Heritage Foundation, Rice again took Iran to task on a range of issues…

A speech in which she said:

The organization, the Heritage Foundation, is a true bedrock of our democratic principles, our freedom, our way of life and a vehicle by which free men and women can debate their future. Thank you very much for the great work of this organization.

TownHall, where this attack on Jews is published, is a product of the Heritage Foundation. From their website

In 1993, The Heritage Foundation, one of the most prestigious conservative think tanks joined forces with National Review to open the Town Hall forum on the CompuServe service. The CompuServe forum was the hub for conservative thought online for several years but was shut down when the World Wide Web became the dominant online medium. was launched in 1995 on the World Wide Web as the first conservative web community. At that time, only a handful of political sites existed and was the first major investment in online activism made by either side.
In 2005, split off from the research focused Heritage Foundation in order to expand the scope of’s mission to inform, empower, and mobilize citizens for political change.

Bush sends his Secretary of State to honor them. NO WONDER TownHall felt free to continue the attack today!

  1. A week ago, On his radio show on Dec 2 Bill O’Lielly said (
“I am not going to let oppressive, totalitarian, anti-Christian forces in this country diminish and denigrate the holiday and the celebration. I am not going to let it happen. I’m gonna use all the power that I have on radio and television to bring horror into the world of people who are trying to do that. And we have succeeded. You know we’ve succeeded. They are on the run in corporations, in the media, everywhere. They are on the run, because I will put their face and their name on television, and I will talk about them on the radio if they do it.”
He was most definitely not talking about Muslims. He has definitely got it in for the Jews.

  2. The attacks on George Soros have a strong anti-Semitic flavor. George is in finance, a stereotypical target of the anti-Semites, and he’s got a thick accent and an old-fashioned Jewish look.
The right hates him excessively and unreasonably. He’s a successful self-made businessman and a refugee from Hitler, Stalin, and at least one other dictator. The right wing is not at all embarassed about its own millionaires (Moon, Murdoch, Scaife, Koch), all of whom are much more blemished than Soros is. All they have on him is his liberal politics and his ethnicity. (And Soros is not far left either).

  3. The funny think about American christians they have no morals. Killing of innocent people in Iraq, torture, abduction, lies and theft, that is what they practise.
Moreover the last executions of death row mate in the U.S. have shown that the west is deeply divided.
You can discuss whatever you want, but they, the Iraqi people have been murdered and still suffer from American christina occupation.
Celebrate your Christmas America and may be you have more executions like this of a 77 year old inmate in Atlanta. Puke!

  4. Reply to Mongo, who wrote cryptically: “Hey , who do you think leads the neocons?” Yes, Mongo, several prominent neocons are indeed Jewish. So? 79% of American Jewry voted against Bush in 2004. Nothing in Judaism supports Bushist ideas. How — as you appear to insinuate — does the (nominal)Jewishness of some neocon leaders make hypocrites of the majority of Jews who protest Bushism and right-wing bigotry? Explain, Mongo.

  7. Give me a break.
    You guys are pathetic.
US is going down the drain, and you are fighting about what a nut case wrote in a forum? You just sitting on your fat ass when people are dying daily in Iraq and are being tortured by your freedom fighting troops. You just don’t give a shit.
GWB said that he believes 30 thousands Iraqis have died in this war, he proudl brought the war into Iraq, to save American lifes, so he did. The cost was at least 30 thousands Iraqis.
But do you give a damn? Do you see 10s of thousands of pages dedicated to the memory of t hose who died? Like the ones created for 9/11 victims?
Get real, you are the Germans of the 2000, you are acting and behaving the same way Germans did in 1930s.

  8. This is an age-old debate which usually ends with a gross number of people dying, a martyr or three, and I don’t just mean Iraqis or freedom-oil fighting troops. Do we really want to open this bloody spectacle for domestic revolution? Semitic-based religions, like racism and bigotry, _are_ absurd, all of it, atheism too for being a reactionary position and agnosticism is simply parallax. Why? Because religion kills more people than cancer, car accidents, and nuclear bombs combined, while disguising its motive with personal/spiritual knowledge through by intellectual stasis.
Secular? Earth is my church, go f* yourseves right and left and center, or have your own Americaust already. Quit betraying our collective future with logomachy or it will not end there.

  9. It is really sad that in this 21st century we are still fighting religious wars, which have caused the world so much grief over the centuries. I have no problem with observers of any religion but I do have a problem with fundamentalists of all religions – be they Christian, Muslim, Jewish, or anything else. These people are poison to the human community, not allowing respect for others who hold differing beliefs. When will humanity grow up?

  10. It is really sad that in this 21st century we are still fighting religious wars

Yes. What might be even more sad is people like Osama bin Laden, etc. called us out on it. He told us we were Christian and Jewish crusaders. Only today can we look in the mirror and see that yes, we really are and have been crusaders. This silly “war on Christmas” nonsense. The largely Jewish neo-cons and their entirely too close relationship with Zionism (Jewish fundamentalism) and Israel. The right-wing Christian fundamentalists like Pat Robertson.

Who exactly can a person trust today? As far as I’m concerned, the label “American” is just that–another meaningless label that politicians throw around in support of their own brand of “morality”. Such as “terrorist” or “insurgent” or “separatist” or “saddamist” or “communist”, ad nauseum. I think China is proving the whole Cold War notion of equating “communism = evil” invalid. That’s not to say that China has a clean record of human rights or decency. There is a saying which is to the effect of: in communism man exploits man, in capitalism it is the opposite.

Who is in the moral right today? Osama bin Laden spoke out against Hiroshima and Nagasaki, saying America has no “religion” that prevents it from killing innocent (i.e. non-soldiers) people. It’s important to notice he didn’t mention “Islam”, but a generic “religion.” He’s mostly correct about Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The official line is that we dropped the a-bomb to prevent much larger deaths. In reality, we dropped them to prevent our own soldiers deaths. So we could use them against the Germans. We killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people. There is nothing morally correct about this, whatsoever. But it was done through no fault of the Japanese political system, either. They simply did not know they had lost the war. There was no political mechanism or method the Japanese had in which they could surrender.

But the point of this is that, I think America has lost and doesn’t realize it yet. We are so far off into moral decay and our leaders have not yet realized that America as a superpower is a myth today. We have a giant military which presents the facade of power. The terrorists used $3 box cutters from Wal-Mart and brought this nation to its knees. I believe it was Osama that said that America (Britian, etc.) can stop them all day long, but it only takes one mistake, one intelligence failure for them to succeed.

Will there be an American Hiroshima? It seems quite likely. The longer we stay in the middle east, the longer they perceive us as crusaders and Zionists, the closer we get to this very real possibility, I believe. We need to divorce ourselves from Israel and from all middle east politics and begin leading by example. But I fear it is already too late. We are facing a financial crisis that could end up making the Great Depression look like a golden era for America. Corporations have looted the Treasury and will continue to do so as long as Bush “stays the course.” Our debt is growing exponentially due to interest owed. We will *never* get out of debt.

  11. This is also playing to the base… folks without direct contact with conservative Christians, even “tolerant” ones, may be unaware that your average capital “C” Christian sees him or herself as part of a persecuted, harassed and oppressed minority, in a situation similiar to that of Christians under the Roman Emperors before Constantine. They see all this as signs of the EndTime, and that the Rapture is just around the corner.
    A few examples:
Doubt me? Type “christians america persecution” into Google, and take a look at the results…

For decades Christianity has been on the defensive in America, and it’s gotten so bad now that many of our public institutions are actively anti-Christian.

In Persecution: How Liberals Are Waging War Against Christianity, David Limbaugh uncovers a mountain of evidence of large-scale, across-the-board discrimination against Christians in the public and academic spheresaccompanied by an alarming determination on the part of the left to eradicate Christian influences from our culture and even our history.

According to some experts a pattern is emerging reminiscent of Jewish persecution in post war Germany. “Isolation of, and discrimination against Christians is growing almost geometrically” says Don McAlvany in The Midnight Herald. “This is the way it started in Germany against the Jews. As they became more isolated and marginalized by the Nazi propaganda machine, as popular hatred and prejudice against the Jews increased among the German people, wholesale persecution followed. Could this be where the growing anti-Christian consensus in America is taking us?”

Tolerance of anti-Christian attitudes in the United States is escalating. Recently, a woman in Houston, Texas was ordered by local police to stop handing out gospel tracts to children who knocked on her door during Halloween. Officers informed her that such activity is illegal (not true), and that she would be arrested if she continued. In Madison, Wisconsin, the Freedom from Religion Foundation distributes anti-Christian pamphlets to public school children entitled, “We Can Be Good Without God.” The entertainment industry and syndicated media increasingly vilify Christians as sewer rats, vultures, and simple-minded social ingrates.

Christians in America will face great persecution soon and they must be aggressors in the midst of it, Josef Tson said March 2 at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

“This [persecution] is the new phenomenon that has arrived and it is going to increase,” said Tson, president of the Romanian Missionary Society. “But we are the aggressors. God faced evil by sending his Son as the answer to it. Jesus came with three things: truth, love and self-sacrifice. When you are slaughtered, you win the battle … and you win with these things.”

    and a blogger, as well…

  13. Dropping the Code-Word “Liberals” and Accusing Jews Directly

There has been a lot of talk in the blogosphere about “mainstreaming extremism” lately. That is Republicans injecting hard KKK stuff, disguised to sound more moderate, into mainstream outlets. The Republican charge that there is a “war on Christmas” is…
