A quick question. I’m trying to remember if any Clinton administration officials were convicted of a crime committed while in office? I remember early in the administration a guy had to resign after he was caught taking a helicopter ride to a golf game. Webster Hubble was convicted of overbilling clients before taking office. But was there anyone caught with a hand in the cookie jar? Even one?

  1. HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, guilty of a misdemeanor for incorrect details to the F.B.I. about the amount of money he given to a former girlfriend;
    Assistant Attorney-General Webster Hubbell convicted of embezzling funds from Rose Law Firm prior to his federal appointment, but that really was money stolen from law partners including Hilary.
    Jim and Susan McDougal, convicted of crimes in Whitewater matter, but again, no clear link to any Clinton-related wrongdoing.
    So I think the correct answer is two: the Cisneros conviction and Clinton’s perjury conviction for lying about an affair. So the Clinton administration simply couldn’t be trusted to ‘fess up about their girlfriends.

  3. OK, Cisneros – but THAT was about his disclosure form submitted when being confirmed for office, wasn’t it? Not something IN office.
    Hubble was convicted of overbilling clients, not embezzling. They said he had charged clients for more hours than he actually worked. And that was only about trying to get him to say something bad about Clinton — Starr had to sort through everything in Hubbel’s life to even find that.
    AND that wasn’t about anything he had done in the Clinton administration.
