Today’s Voting Machine Post

Through Raw Story, It’s official: Diebold election bugware can’t be trusted,

Diebold would rather lose all of its voting machine business in North Carolina than open its source code to state election officials as required by law, the Associated Press reports.

meanwhile California Republicans are fighting to get Diebold back into the state. Why?

  1. I think republicans are scum. Even your nice aunt in Indiana. Scum, every one. But I wouldn’t believe they are stealing elections with Diebold machines EXCEPT for their incomprehensible stand against rational voting machine law. It becomes comprehensible ONLY if they are stealing elections with Diebold machines. That is the ONLY possible explanation of their position.

There’s an additional mystery that can only be explained with this line of reasoning: why do the Republicans insist on marginalizing their own rank and file who are concerned about the integrity of the voting machines. Many Republicans who live in very Democratic districts like San Francisco, where I live, are livid about the Black Box Voting problem. Why do the leaders of the California Republican Party insist on deprecating the concerns of their own rank and file by trafficking in the talking point that people who are concerned about the integrity of the electronic vote counting systems are delusional enthusiasts of paranoid conspiracies?
The only reasonable explanation is that the California Republican Party has calculated that controlling the national and state governments through election fraud will enable the construction of a political machine that local governments will be powerless to resist.
