  1. I have about one bloggable idea every few months. That’s why I gave it up. But I’ve been thinking about this for a few months. Anyone (I mean a real person, not a right-winger) who contributes to PBS or to any affiliate is a fool. Even if you contribute during a fundraising break directly linked to Rick Steves or Midsommer Murders. We have to kill public television, alas. Either that or get elected, take over, and restore it to sanity. The latter strategy seems much less likely to me every day. Save your money — you’re going to need it.

  2. I thought Joan Kroc gave them over a billion dollars a couple years ago. What ever happened to that money? If it is true, they would seem to need no help from the public.

  3. Hadley,
Joan Kroc gave that money to NPR, not PBS.
Anyway, I’m not so sure. My local station (WGBH) produces some of the best programs–Frontline, NOVA etc.
I’d miss Frontline a lot if it went away.

  4. The problem with this strategy is that it’s what they want you to do. If PBS gets ruined by lack of donations, the wingnuts won’t mind a bit.
