Obama’s at the country club looking for the real killers

“Obama’s the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by” (Karl Rove).
The key to the statement is that in the image he is with ‘a beautiful date.’ Not Michelle Obama …. When you think of a “beautiful date” specifically at a country club, do you picture an African-American woman? Would Rove’s target audience? Or do you picture him there, a black man, smoking a cigarette indoors at a country club, with a white woman on his arm?” (HW at Talking Points Memo).
What you picture is O.J. Simpson at the country club with Nicole — or, more recently, O.J. with a different white woman at the country club where he’s looking for “the real killers”, the way Obama will be using ineffectual police measures to find the terrorists.
Fortunately, the other black man in America’s country clubs is Tiger Woods. But for that, Rove’s meme would have won the election. Give him points for virtuosity and effort.

  1. Fortunately, the other black man in America’s country clubs is Tiger Woods.
And where is your analogy going? Tiger (another mixed-race, not “pure” Black, man) is married to a white woman.
Of course, both Tiger and Baracky have another thing in common: They don’t support female athletes. Tiger, by his refusal to support women’s being able to play at Augusta (a place which, roughly two decades ago, wouldn’t have allowed Tiger to play), and Baracky, by his voting for Title IX opponent, Richard Griffith, to the DC Court.

  2. Nobody hates Tiger Woods, if you want me to spell things out. You are probably the only person in the world for whom this is about Title IX.

  3. Wow, John, let’s be condescending, why don’t we?
As to Tiger, I don’t “hate” him, but I also don’t have any real use for him either. Golf is a stupid game, BUT when you’re the first multi-racial player to wear the Green Jacket at Augusta (where just 20 years earlier) your only chance of being on the greens would’ve been as a caddy and then you refuse to challenge the anti-woman policy at Augusta, you’re proving you’re no better than the RACISTS were (except you’re able to pass off the sexism with more acceptance).
As to Title IX, how fucking dare you demean it? Title IX, I should remind you, happens to affect Barack Saint Obama’s own daughters. Without Title IX, it’s not their skin color that will limit their athletic potential, but their gender–more pointedly, their lack of a penis. How does Barack, their dad, explain how he could support a man who opposes the very existence of Title IX? It’s worth noting that Hillary Clinton OPPOSED Griffith’s nomination. (Must be that uterus that affected Hillary’s thinking.)
BUT, you STILL ignored the fact that in your very analogy, bringing up Tiger’s name, you (and it is YOU who decided to bring up the “black man/white woman” matter) FORGOT that Tiger is married to a WHITE WOMAN.
    Note:
From the Talking Points Memo: When you think of a “beautiful date” specifically at a country club, do you picture an African-American woman? Would Rove’s target audience? Or do you picture him there, a black man, smoking a cigarette indoors at a country club, with a white woman on his arm?”
Then, your own comment: O.J. Simpson at the country club with Nicole — or, more recently, O.J. with a different white woman at the country club.
And then, you mention Tiger, conveniently omitting the fact that Tiger is ALSO married to a white woman. Then, in your “defense”, you lamely offer that “Nobody hates Tiger Woods” which, of course, has jack-squat to do with anything, except that *I* made a point and YOU can’t argue against it. (Of course, you might have failed to note that the racist types that YOU insinuate have a problem with Barack’s being with a white woman are most likely not too happy with Tiger Woods and the fact that he is married to a white woman. I can think of more than a few African-American women who probably aren’t happy with Tiger either for the same reason. Some years back, Oprah had a show featuring African-American women who were furious that “all the good brothers” were being taken by white women.)

  4. You are really good at missing the point. This isn’t about Tiger Woods. This is about Rove’s attempt to inject a subliminal Willy Horton type fantasy into the subconscious of the electorate. Others pointed out the miscegenation angle. I noted that the while O.J. is a miscegenating country-club black guy, and that this was almost certainly the image Rove was trying to evoke, Tiger Woods is another misegenating country-club black guy, probably more famous than O.J. at the moment, who is not hated, but admired and even beloved, including by Republicans (for all I know, Tiger is a Republican himself) and conservatives. And I was suggesting that this particular ploy of Rove’s would fail for that reason.
I could go on, but your reading of this in terms of Augusta and Tiger Woods misses the point as massively as I remember seeing anyone ever missing the point of what I posted. I’ve been attacked by wingers and trolls a fair number of times, but many of them at least understood what I had said.
