I Report, You Decide

President Bush, in his Saturday President’s Radio Address four days ago:

As we work to deliver opportunity at home, we’re also keeping you safe from threats from abroad. We went to war because we were attacked, and we are at war today because there are still people out there who want to harm our country and hurt our citizens. Some may disagree with my decision to remove Saddam Hussein from power, but all of us can agree that the world’s terrorists have now made Iraq a central front in the war on terror. … Our troops are fighting these terrorists in Iraq so you will not have to face them here at home.

This was just this last Saturday, and he’s still saying that Iraq attacked the United States.

  1. This was just this last Saturday, and he’s still saying that Iraq attacked the United States.
No, it’s even worse than that. He’s trying to confuse the two facts and blend them together in defective (alas, most) minds. If he flatly said something that was untrue, he might be just stupid or uninformed or off the wagon again. But when he intentionally deceives it shows both his clear mendacious intent and his contempt for the mentality of his supporters. The latter is certainly justified, but no less evil for it.

  2. Maybe there’s a corollary:
    Bush’s Governments Draw Terrorism
He was elected, we were attacked.
He installed a government in Iraq, now there’s terrorism there.

  3. Did you read Digby’s post about Bush’s repeated lie? yesterday?
This is something our “free press” should be all over like Bush on a bald headed man.
    Should.
