DO NOT BE FOOLED

Senate confirms Alito to high court by a vote of 58-42.
If 42 Senators REALY wanted to keep Alito off the court, the vote yesterday to stop the filibuster would have failed, and Alito would not be on the court.
DO NOT BE FOOLED by any Senator who voted against the filibuster but also voted against Alito – that Senator was FOR Alito, and is only throwing you this “No” vote to get your money and vote for their next campaign.
REMEMBER these Senators, do not give them money, do not work for them, and urge others to oppose them. I’ll have a list up later.

  1. Absolutely absolutely right. And let’s not forget those folks who called for the filibuster only after they knew that there weren’t enough votes to keep it going. (Yes, I mean, among others, Kerry.) They’re just to get your money, too.

  2. Damn straight Dave, although I am going to part opinions with Tom on the Dems who did stand to filibuster.
I think it takes more courage to stand tall when you know you’re losing than it does to blend into the crowd and I do want to than Kennedy and Kerry for that.
Dave, have you ever read “Don’t Shoot The Dog” by Karen Pryor? I highly recommend it because It is past time that we learned how to get our own side to interact with us.

  3. Of course the Dems weren’t going to filibuster Alito, cuz this is not the hill they want to “die” on and they are not raving, lunatic moonbats like you.

  6. I find it ironic that the widow of the greatest civil rights leader in the history of this country passed away just hours before Samuel Alito was appointed to the SCOTUS. What immense symbolism this projects. Coretta Scott King dies the day before democracy dies in America. RIP Mrs. King. RIP Democracy. God help us all.

  7. Boy, are you guys ever not seeing the forest. Sure, spend all your energy hating the guys who are voting with you on every Supreme Court nominee — and always have and always will.

Authority is the bottom line. When the Democrats have 51 Senators, you won’t have any Alitos getting confirmed. It doesn’t matter if you’re “right” about Kerry. If we had seven more “traitors” like John Kerry in the Senate, we’d have won this round.

But hey, why be focused on actually winning when we can obsess over philsophical purity? I mean, if we actually cared about winning and shaping policy, we’d be no better than the GOP, right?

    Right?
